Your firm is spending big money on a software rollout. Do you ever really ask the question, “why”?
This week I was having lunch in New York City with John and Sue of Capensys.
We were discussing our experiences with recent rollouts. John said that when he asks firm leaders why they are doing a rollout they often respond “to upgrade to X”. But that’s not really the point is it? What firms really want is either increased productivity or lower costs.
He went on to describe some possible objectives: increase the amount of emails filed to the DMS or the percentage of documents that properly use styles.
After my conversation with these experienced and thoughtful professionals, I have one rule for rollouts going forward: decide “why”, then measure before and after.
